Civil Engineer – PE in Texas City, TX

drafters, architects, clients, and builders to design strong homes and

Responsibilities
The selected candidate will lead and manage a team of drafters, EITs,
and administrative assistants.
• responsible for driving and coordinating the on-time completion of
private and commercial engineering projects.
• Attend pre-development meetings with city officials;
• Meet with clients to establish scope of project, review data, and
address with the client any issues that are found;
• Perform feasibility studies to ascertain if projects can/should be
developed as proposed;
• Determine scope of services based on location and project type;
• Assist in estimating projects for competitive bidding;
• Review work from the drafting team;
• Advise drafters/EITs on corrections to be made to plans;
• Assist in RFQ and RFP for infrastructure projects from GLO or
city/local governments.
• Perform calculations for civil engineering designs and
specifications for residential and commercial projects including cut
and fill, mitigation, drainage and detention
• Basic civil engineering and code research for drainage, detention,
SWPPP, TxDOT requirements and other local jurisdictional
requirements.
• Field work with Junior Engineer or Field Inspector to inspect
properties for data gathering (approx. 5%)
• Liaise with architects, drafters, and structural engineers to gather
design requirements for future land usage.
• Familiarity with computer-aided design (CAD) software or
willingness to learn
• Review design plans and layouts to produce engineering
documentation for construction.
• Review rough sketches and review them with the engineering team
• Ensure final designs comply with regulations and quality standards
• Training of subordinates in engineering principles and
methodologies
• Coordinate the team priorities to ensure client satisfaction with the
assistance of the in-house Civil Project Coordinator.
Requirements and skills
• Advanced experience in Civil engineering (5+ years), specifically
for residential and mid-sized commercial development in Texas.
• Established relationships with local and state municipalities to
facilitate predevelopment and preplanning submissions
• Hands-on experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering
Technology, Construction Engineering Technology or equal
• Professional Engineering license, or within 6 months of obtaining.
• Good math skills
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Meticulous attention to detail to ensure high quality designs
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to conduct meetings with
clients and other team members for planning and technical support
