Who We Are...
Aran & Franklin Engineering, Inc., started as a partnership between Dan Aran and W.D. "David" Franklin in 1998 as a
home-based engineering consulting firm in Southeast Texas. Dan originally began in 1995 as a full-time consulting
engineer, traveling around the Texas Gulf Coast. Once the partnership formed, David worked part-time from his lake
house to handle the increased volume of work. The need for windstorm engineers was apparent and the company's
focus moved towards certifying homes in hurricane prone areas.
After Mr. Aran's untimely death in 2002, Mr. Franklin came on full-time and moved the business out of the "home
office" arena, opening a public office on Galveston Island to accommodate the rapidly expanding client base in that
area. Demand for qualified windstorm engineers has grown significantly in Southeast Texas, and Aran & Franklin
Engineering has grown steadily with that new demand. In the aftermath of Hurricane Ike, the office was relocated to
LaMarque. In 2009, we began servicing our clients out of a Crystal Beach location.
W.D. Franklin has been president of Aran & Franklin Engineering, Inc, since 2002. He is a 1971 graduate of Lamar
University in Beaumont with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He worked in management for Mobil
Oil corporation for 25 years before venturing back to his roots in Civil Engineering. He is a member of several
professional organizations, including the American Society of Civil Engineers. Most importantly, he is a fully licensed
Texas Professional Engineer in good standing. Mr. Franklin is supported by Chandra Franklin Womack, P.E., eight
front office staff, four inspectors and a full-time production staff .
David Franklin and his staff are well qualified to handle your Windstorm and Structural Engineering needs.
